Bowhunter survives treestand fall Saved by phone
This man is alive today because he took his cellphone hunting. I heard it on TV this morning... He lead the rescue team right to his tree. Not smart enough to wear a safety belt though, but at least he had his cell phone.
If you can, carry yours. Turn it off, and let's hope you may Have it and Not need it, rather than Need it and Not have it...

I'd like to add to that. I hunt alone quite often, I always carry my cell phone with me and make sure it is in one of my pockets and not in my fanny pack which is usually hanging from the tree. The phone does you no good if you fall from the tree and it is hanging 15 to 20 feet above you.
And oh yes, I always wear my safety harness.

Always wear that safety belt!! We hear alot and it's true but, sometimes people take it for granted or try and shortcut.Climbing into and descending is when most of the accidents occur.I have a cell phone and two way radio on me because you never know.Glad that the guy is doing well.

MAKE IT A SAFETY HARNESS. MEAN OLD MISTER GRAVITY WILL PUT THE HEAVY SIDE DOWN AND WITH A BELT IT MAY HAVE YOU HANGING HEAD DOWN.
I DID NOT READ THE ARTICLE BUT IF HE WAS RIFLE HUNTING THAT MIGHT BE THE REASON HE WAS SO HIGH.

I always wear a safety belt, and my cell phone is always in the front pocket of my bibs...i figure that if I can move at all i will be able to get to the chest pocket of my bibs to use it....

# 1- I always wear my safty belt. I am to big and fat to fall. After i turned 40 the ground seemed to get harder!!!!!!.
# 2- this year alone my cell phone saved my azz (had trouble with poachers). i will never enter the woods without it.

I walked a 1/2-mile back to my car to get my safety strap this past Sunday on the last day of NYS early bow season. And I do carry my cell phone, but it has been in my fanny pack, now it will be in one of my pockets. Thanks guys..
