I to am thinking about getting a climber, been using ladder stands, not that familar with climbers, just wanted to know how well they do with long leaf pines?
A climber in the pines? Uh, I have never climbed a pine tree with mine. I mean, yeah, you can do it. Nothing wrong with it. It's a soft stable tree. BUT... the pine sap will most likely stick to the teeth of the climber and you could have a hell of a time breaking free when you are ready to climb back down.

I recently bought the Summit Openshot. It's a handclimber so it's not for everybody but at only 14lbs it was just what I was looking for.

It's around 190.00-200.00.
