Have you been watching Cops and smoking weed again? Remember last time when they locked you up because you thaught your Craftsman was faster than their Ford?

I don't know if there's a program but where I used to live they flew over a forest in the city limits several nights and used infrared to determine the population.

But animals are always moving. They know no boundries. I guess it would give you a rough idea, but extremely inaccurate.

Just like other statistics, surveys, and counts, the study has to have a large sample, or in this case area, in order to be meaningful.

A suvery of several square miles makes sense, but not if the property is smaller than that.

The population surveys I have heard of are done from the air when the leaves are down and when there is snow on the ground. Deer stand out like black ants on a white floor.

Yeah.....and after they get to where they can do that......let's make a machine that will show us where they are on our property......from the ground.....or maybe a computer program that'll link up with the sattelites and pin-point them via infrared so that we can look up where they are a couple of hours before we head to our stands.

Then we won't have to send the guy with the tranquilizer gun and the leash on a wild goose chase to catch our deer and shoo it out in front of us!

Jeff

I fear that's where we're headed.
