I've seen deer come to a chainsaw, I don't know why, perhaps it's a learned trait with fresh browse when trees have been cut down, either way it's a very familiar sound, like a combine....I wouldn't worry about it too much and if it's a good spot, it still will be.

I'd keep hunting the area...Loggers in eastern NC see deer all the time..They are curious creatures and some think that by cutting trees they put brouse (leaves) on the ground and the deer come in to eat them...Countless times I have gone back to camp to retrieve a 4-wheeler to load up a deer killed in a cut corn field, and had several deer back in the field when I arrived on the 4-wheeler....
A few years back I was camping on one of our farms and the farmer pulled in with his big Deere and a disc...I was cooking breakfast and invited him to eat with us...This farm was planted in corn that year and he had planed to disc the entire farm if possible...His plan was to start in the front of the farm and work his way to the back, I asked him to start at the back as that is where I wanted to hunt that afternoon...He agreed and disced the back field, finished about 3-3:30 in the afternoon...I got on stand about 4 and started seeing deer about 5....About 15-20 deer piled into the field, the smaller ones were running around and rolling in the freshly disced ground...Ended up killing a nice buck out of the field that afternoon....

On of my besting hunting days ever started out with someone cutting wood less than 100 yards behind where I set up. I had does and bucks all over me. They totally ignored the chainsaw. Of course, the rut was in full swing.
