im from central pa, and last night i seen a few does acting really strange, so im hoping they were getting with the program, cause the bucks will follow, and as far as calls go, i think its all timing, if your lucky enough to grunt when there is one there and looking then you will score....
Good luck...

RE: Rut activity in Pennsylvania
ive noticed alot of scrape activity and my stand is hot for the does so i know in time the buck will be there. just trying to get that edge and get them out early i hear alot about the can and how well it works. I personally never tried it. I tried a grunt call a little last night and those deer did not want anything to do with it!

Its certainly on fellas. Not EVERY buck may be ready, but a lot are and all its takes is one hot doe to make things explode. You can read what happened to me in my halloween buck story. Spend every minute you got in a tree this time of the year.

I agree with rybohunter...its on. It all depends on the deer and the enviornment. Big mountain deer are more aggressive in the rut earlier in the rut. But most deer are raring to go.

Am also in York Co. It seems last Thursday things seemed to pick up. I shot a 7pt and a lot of my buddies started seeing some increased buck movement. This past Monday was real good with 2 buddies killing some real nice buck and others real close. Bucks are surely responding to scent now. This warm spell seemed to slow things but am predicting Thurs night and Friday Morning for it to pick back up.

They are starting, I saw 6 bucks last night, nothing I wanted to shoot(young bucks). They were out in a field anywhere from 30 yds.-200yds. away. I watched these guys zig zaggin all over the place scent checkin does, bumpin them all around the field. Don't think the big boys are at it quite yet. I am thinking friday being as cold as it will be might be a great day to get out. My buddy shot a nice 7 point this morning and he was chasing 2 does through the woods.

Get out and hunt. It's happening!! Me and a buddy were driving home tonite from a WV hunt in a downpour and we got to watch a classy 130" buck dog a doe for 10 minutes under a farmers light onthe barn. He was relentless, and that is a good thing to see...when the big boys join the chase, it's time to play in the woods!
A buddy took a nice 8 this morning in Pa. he saw 8 bucks, and told me a buck and a doe, the he believed to be "hot" bedded 50 yards from him and it was basically a brawl for 2 hours as 4 or 5 young wannabee bucks tried to dethrone the stud that bedded near her.
