Default Rut ?

What triggers the rut is it the amout of day light or the cold weather?

Some say cold nights, others say amount of day light. But the moon phase has pretty much been proven not to be a factor.

As killer said, there are folks that live in both camps. I personally don't buy the theory that it is the weather. Bucks here are chasing does and it's in the upper 60's. I believe it has everything to do with the photoperiod (cycles of light and dark) which causes the does to come into estrus which is when the bucks won't leave them alone...the RUT.

Before you can hunt the rut properly and to its fullest, you must "Understand" the rut. Hree is a great page that will help you better understand the rut and how to hunt the different phases of the rut:
