cows and deer
I was in my stand yesterday and I had a nice two pointer come in right under my stand. He had good mass and the spread was out past his ears. I think he would have weighed about 700lbs. field dressed. I saw nothing in the way of deer though. The guys that went out with me saw all kinds of deer, and they weren't very far away. I know it was windy but they saw deer and I didn't. I guess my question is; do deer and cows mix? Did the deer stay away because of the cows? I have never been in that position before so I honestly didn't know what to think. I know I have never seen deer and cows in the same field before. ANy help would be great.

They generally aren't bothered too much by cattle. Chances are that they won't get in "the middle" of the cows but they will still come into the same fields and general locations.

It's been my experiece that they just don't like to hang out w/ cattle. dwd, that's a cool photo btw....
Last fall I was watching 2 does in a cut corn field that is also home to about.....30 head of cattle. At first, the cattle were at the barn, not in the field. When they entered the field, those does left. Now, it's not like they spooked or anything, but there weren't hangin around either, if ya catch my drift.
You would think they just wouldn't care, and perhaps they don't. Maybe my deer herd just has a strong aversion to cattle, who knows.
