Well actually spining the deer was probley your best bet that day, Because you may have had a very hard time tracking her in the rain. Especialy if was a heavy rain like you described. So it was probly good you hit where you did.
BUT COngrats on the first and hope theres many more after that one.
And yeah getting that first one really helps with the confidence.

Congrats! The first always seem the hardest.
I went a couple of years without getting a shot off probably due to lack of knowledge of placement, scouting efforts, among other things. I had a friend that was very successful and while I was very excited for his success it did mess with my psyche (sp?) a bit. I was always wondering what I was doing wrong. It motivated me to learn more by others experinces, reading, and obviously learning from my own mistakes.
Since my first harvest, my luck has success rate has improved dramatically. It improves your confidence and the desire to learn more and more. I'm just warning you that adrenaline rush doesn't go away with experience and I am sure everyone on here would agree that if it does I/we will probably put up the bows and pack up the hunting gear for good.
Sorry for the rambling on but it is always exciting to hear of everyones first harvest as I can remember mine like it was yesterday. Congratulations on getting the first one under your belt and good luck in the future.
