Helping the newbie get a buck!
Well I finally made it back on leave from overseas just in time for the WI opener. I was all excited. I found out when I got back my brother in law bought a bow and was practicing. This was his first year. Instead of going off and worrying about my hunting spot. I decided my time back was to help him out and find him a nice stand. I brought him out to my secret public hunting spot in SE WI. A place everyone thinks gets pounded but doesn't. I brought him out there and we walked around and I decided to have him hunt this thick patch of woods while I would go about 400 yds away and sit on the groud since there wasn't any trees around. I went to my spot and had a whopper sneak up 20 yds behind me. I was to busy swatting skeaters. I made it back to my truck. But No steve. I started to worry now. Maybe I should have hunted next to him, where was he? I went back down the trail and there he was dragging this 8pt. As you can see by the shot buck fever sunk in, but he made a quick kill. Man was I proud. Didn't matter if I got one or not. Just the fact that I helped him get his first deer, and made a bowhunter for life. He's hooked. Thats my pride and joy. My little nephew who pages through deer and deer hunter mags, and watches the outdoor channel at the age of three!!
