Sight Pins: .010, .019, or .029??

Personally, it's the smaller the better to a point. In order to have such small diameter fibers, they must have a good method of picking up light. I have .010 pins on my Sword Twilight and .019 on my Toxonics. I HATE .029 pins, they cover up like a 4" area at 50 yards, and that's just not going to cut it.

RE: Sight Pins: .010, .019, or .029??
I have sold in the ballpark of 70 sword sights in the last several months and I still see .019's being the most popular by far. I sell as many .019's as I do .029's and .010's combined.
The .010's are great but I generally recommend them for target purposes only, andwith that said, only for target shooters that have fantastic eye sight. I have the .010's on my 3D specific bow and they are great when shooting for X's at longer distances out to 40 yards, they have helped my X count increase dramatically. The .010's also allowed me to put pins at 5 yard gaps between 30-40 yards.......I have a 20, 30, 35, and 40 yard pin on my 3D bow and the .010's allow me to get that small pin gap without cluttering the site picture too much. It makes it much easier to pin gap shoot for those 33 or 37 yard targets when you can get pins like this.
For hunting I generally see .019's being most popular and this is what I have on my XT that is used for hunting only. They pick up much more light than the .010's do, they are also much easier to see during less than ideal lighting conditions. I also am not shooting for 1" X-rings with my hunting rig. The .019's are also small enough that they don't get fuzzy and too bright when in a direct sunlight situation, .029's do that often times and leave a halo around the pin I find.
Hope this helps............

DWD - You got one of the last sites with combination pins.
Sword doesn't seem to be making the different pin sizes the same length anymore and it is nearly impossible to get combo pins all aligned for a site. The last one I did like this I had to disassemble about 10 sights to come up with 5 pins that were the desired diameter and also all the same length, and then I had all sorts of parts left over that wouldn't work together......not much fun. Because of this I won't do this anymore because it just doesn't work out well.

Right now I shoot with .029. Eventually, I'll switch to .019 so I can see the target better when I'm shooting past 30 yds. As it is, .029 is just too big for accurate 3D shooting. I can't go to .010, because I can't see the bitsy things! Not only are my .029 pins to big for farther targets, they also have an enourmous halo when I have to use my light. Yikes! That makes hitting the 11 ring even harder. I usually wind up hitting an 8. Sometimes I'll get lucky and hit the 10.
