How many of you guys carry a sidearm with you while bowhunting. I carry a T/C Encore .308 pistol with a 15" barrel just in case I see bear that is out of bow range. I have yet to kill anything with it except a coyote...

I believe it's illegal in both states I frequently hunt (Mo and Ill.) to carry in a firearm while bowhunting. There's no need around here anyway.

I'm pretty sure it's illegal in MI, even with a concealed carry permit. I'm not sure though because I don't even own a handgun anymore.

I take my bow, 3 arrows and a knife.

I would think anytime that would be legal is bowhunting during an open gun season in allmost any state.

It's illegal to carry a sidearm in NC while bowhunting.

I also have a VA license. To be honest (and I'm not proud of this)......I don't know the law, there. I DO know that the area I hunt (one of them) is full of bears and cats. Ethics, laws and common sense don't always compliment one another. I have a Kimber .45 cal in my hand when it's dark and I'm going to my stand in VA.

Period.

Here in NH, our bear season runs concurrent with archery deer season and we have no closed season for coyotes. It is legal to carry a firearm bowhunting here as long as you possess your firearm license as well as your archery license.

I've been known to tote a Ruger SuperBlackhawk when bowhunting in gun season. Although, it was sold to finance a new bow a few years ago and now I have no handgun.
