I think it depends on how busted you are. If the deer see you, snort and stamp on the ground, then it may be a good idea to move to another location. But if deer just sense soemthing may be amiss and trot off at a light jog, then I don't think it's necessary to move.

People can argue this either way but I thinkit doesn't matter.I have come to find out that deer do not act the way people make them out to. I really don't believe much ofanything anyone tells me about deer hunting until I experience it myself. They are predictable animals but sometimes you just don't know what they'll do.

ropedawg.....very good question!!! Let me tell you about my recent hunt. When I got to New Mexico it was very wet and much cooler than I was used to. I sat in the rain three different days, and that coupled with the smoke at the blackjack tables got my allergies and sinuses flared up. I started that hacking cough that you just hate when you are trying to stay silent in a tree. Several times I just couldn't hold it and let out a cough that I tried to muffle but couldn't. I heard deer running andhad deer snorting....but I just stayed there. Within 30 minutes each time, new deer came down the trail. When I took the 10 point buck I got, I had had a coughing fit minutes before.
I would say that the number of deer in the area are a factor in this, plus how used to human noises the deer are. I know in the area I hunt (private land) it's better to stick it out. Ray

A friend of mine got busted last season he was in his treestand that was about 12 to 15 feet up and out in the open with no cover.
So he got out and went to a diffrent spot for the eveing , the next day he went to the stand he got busted in and got busted again.
He got busted every time he hunted that stand so he moved it to a diffrent area.

My experience is that if you are busted because the wind has switched, or starts to swirl. Go somewhere else.

Change it up. Even if in the same area, change it up.

I jumped the same 5 point 10 times last year on my way to one of my stand sites. Everytime I went in to that stand he was there. He actually came back 3 of those times and offered a shot while drinking out of a creek 1 of those 3. He busted me right by my tree every time
