Default Pants tucked in/out of boots?

For most of my early hunting years, I always had the bottom of my pants outside my boots - as much for camo as anything else (my boots back then were a solid color). For the last 10 years or so, in the early season, I've tucked my pants inside my boots so the rubber boots would keep them from contaminating brush on the way to the stand.

Now I hear that if your pants are tucked in your boots, they act as a "wick" and bring scent from your feet up and out.

Thoughts?

Never really thought of the pants acting like a wick.... Sounds reasonable though. I always keep my pants un-tucked. It's more comfortable IMO.

If you practice proper sent contanment , you really shouldn't worry about it.
As I get ready to go in the woods I always make sure I'm sent free as possible.
I shower with sent free soap and before I change into my hunting clothes , I'll spray down with sent killer from Wildlife Research and I spray my socks as well and inside my boots.
Then for a little extra help ,I'll pin those H.S. sent waffers ( earth )just above the boots on the pant leg and then spray the outside of my boots with Deer Dander.

I used to wear my pants outside my boots for the same reason. Now I wear them tucked into my rubber boots. Never thought about them acting as a wick but I think that is a long shot. Your feet would have to be swimming in sweat for the odor to travel up 18" and out your boots. With my pants tucked in, I don't have to worry about walking through muck and water. Practice odor control and don't worry about it.

Mine are normally outside my boots and tied off with blousing cords , but even so the Chimney effect" will force scent out through both your arm and leg openings as well as your collar . You can't prevent it no matter what you do , so quit worrying about it and just hunt the wind .

It is too hot in GA to prevent my scent.. so the only thing I am concerned about is keeping chiggers out. I tuck em in.
