Need Recommendations
Ok..so I'm a gun hunter and you're probably thinking, just based on the avatar, that I'm in the wrong forum. BUT..I've been tossing the idea of Bow hunting around for a couple of years now. I'm skilled in firing a bow but just never added the hunting aspect to it. What I'm looking for is any recommendations on a good reliable first timer's compound bow. I'm looking for something that's not going to break the bank but is still good for all around deer hunting. Can anyone assist?

look at a martin, pse, or reflex. There are a lot of good bows in the mid price range... Just make sure you get the right accessories, the guys on here will be able to help you a lot... It takes alot of practice and dedication, but its terribly addicting...

In the world of high tech bows I still shoot a PSE Thunderbolt. I'm still fighting technology I guess. I can afford to buy a new and improved bow, but I have no need to. The Thunderbolt is quiet, at least mine is, and plenty fast enough.( pulling 68 pounds at 265 fps.) It's a mid priced bow. Not saying you should get one, but just saying there are some really good mid priced bows out there. Your good mid priced bows will run about four to five hundred dollars. Another mid priced bow that is getting raves in the south is the whisper creek. You can get one of these for under $400.00. I haven't shot one but I hear they shoot extremely well and are really quiet. Just remember, you don't need blazing speed to kill a deer. Make sure you get a quiet bow. Have you looked at any bows in particular yet? By the way, PSE makes many good mid priced bows other than the Thunderbolt.

There are a couple of 2 yr old (used) Mathews LX's in my (hometown)bow shop, right now. They're in FINE shape.
I'm not saying that so you'll buy one of these. It's just an example of what's out there.

RE: Need Recommendations
Checkout Ebay if you get a chance. They have a ton of compound bows to be had for good prices. Of coarse if your new to the sport, I would recommend going to an archery shop and get properly fitted.
