Default My string loop pulled thru...

Well after many years of hearing about it and dreading it, it happened i was out in the back yard last evening shooting went to draw my bow got it like a 1/3 of the way back and WHACK i got punched in the face. I almost knocked my self out...lol then i could taste it the distinct taste of blood, anyway i got myself a nice fat lip today.

Im not sure how it pulled thru i burned the end of it and had a nice mushroom on the end. I made sure it wont slip again though, i added a little liquid nails to the ends this time. so guys check the ends of your loops from time to time or you could end up with a bloddy lip.

I'm concerned about the possibility of that happening as well, which is why I am very careful about where my arrow is pointing at all times while drawing the bow back.

Go to an Ultra-Nock you wont have to worry so much unless the steel breaks or the screws come out.

I know some won't like this because of the extra weight issue.

I was antelope hunting when I was 16 and I was drawing back on an antelope and didn't realize exactly what I was doing. I had my finger on the release and about halfway back I touched it and my hand went right into my nose. The arrow flew about halfway to the antelope and scared it off. I couldn't really see after that since my eyes were watering so much. That really hurts.

I hope my loop never gives. Maybe i'll add soem glue for some added protection.[]

If you don't want it to fail, replace it often. They do wear out. I hadone fail on me this spring and now I replace it more often even if it looks ok. Loop material is cheap and punching yourself hurts.

This is my first string loop on my '06 bow and I think about it every time I draw...the words of the shop owner rings in my ears, "I've never had one slip"...well my luck I'll be the first...I actually had the knotless loop on first but it spun around the string, I allowed the shop owner to tie one on after he told me that....I would think about the knotless loop again and then serve it in place...

I've been using the loop since it came out & never had one pull through on me yet If installed properly with the dab of epoxy on each over lay knot which was the way they recommended when they first came out!!, I never had a string or power cable out last a loop, Try the epoxy

man thats terrible. imagine the release taking out an eye or something....becareful guys, yet another reason to check and inspect your gear. i never paid any attention to my loop. but now im going to start! i hope it dont happen to me. i shoot in my backyard..all fenced in but i have neighbors and a nearby school. the last thing i want it to send one over the fence! i usually draw straight inline with the target but still anything could happen when something like that happens.

glad your OK. how old was the loop?? how many shots on it??

I had the same thing happen last summer. Hit myself pretty good in the mouth. Just make sure you get that loop on there tight and you shouldn't have any problems. I replaced the one that pulled through last summer and its the one I'm shooting with now.
