Royal Rack-
I just got this one new and have climbed less that 20 times and I go about 240 (including gear)not that it should matter. I don't think I should be having this problem yet if at all.
Bogobble-
I think I'll be looking for some of this so if you get some of it, coat a tool or something and let me know how long it takes to fully cure. I'll do the same if I can find some.
Good one Josh!

Im 6'6" and 235 without gear, so I dont think your weight is making the noise. If I dont have my cables in the bar as far as possible, mine becomes cumbersome and does make noise..But only when I smack limbs, trees, and my feet. And when your hustleing through the woods trying to get in position before daylight, make sure that when you bend under a branch, that the stand clears it too. Otherwise, your laying on your back wondering what happened and where you are.

Summit beats API in every feature but two: it bites in trees TOO much, and you sometimes have to fight to get the platform out, and it doesn't go around as big a tree as API will accomodate. I like getting in big trees if I can to break up my silhouette. API gives me that option, while Summit won't fit as big a tree...

I don't think you can go wron with either stand.
The stuff is called Plasi Dip or Plasi Dip Spray.
I used the spray, seemed like it would be easier than dipping the cable a little at a time. Probably other brand names out there too.

Making a great stand even better. I am going to give it a try.
I have also put a rope with a clip on it to connect the top and bottom. That way it does not have to be tied and I can take the top part of the climber off while standing on the platform near the ground and then put it on the ground while I take off the platform to stack them together.

I like that idea too schlich92. I might try to reposition mine too. I don't really like it between my feet because it tends to get in the way.

In all seriousness, take a 6' long rope and tie one end to the seat, and one to the platform. If the bottom happens to slip while your climber and slips off your feet, the rope will catch it and u can pull it back up to your feet instead of shimmying down the tree. Its never happened to my summit, but has to my hunters view, and once was enough to know that I dont want to take the chance.
