Default alpha shocks

my highlander came with Alpha shocks installed. the last few days i been noticing one of them pops out of place. after a couple shots the bottom layer pops out, if i keep shooting the next ridge will come out. its showing some wear already. i shot atleast 500 shots(probably a good bit more) through it in 6 days. how long are they supposed to last?? i heard limbsavers have a shotlife. im sure alpha shocks do too. is that common or where they put in wrong or what?? do they need to be positioned a certain distance from the cams or riser or anything?? what about string leeches?? do they last a while? i havent seen any signs of wear on those yet.

should i ditch the alpha shocks or the leeches or keep them both or what?my bow is pretty danged quiet, and also no vibration and baaaarely any "kick" at all so im guessing if i want that i should keep the leeches and alpha shocks right?? is it uncommon to have to replace alpha shocks so quick?? just curious looking for opinions....i dont know what products are good, bad, garbage or gimicks...thanx guys

hey bud,
I have shot just as many shots if not more and I have not had any trouble with my shocks. Check with Butch he also has the Highlander. You may want to take to your local shop and see what they say.
I agree with what you said this bow is great!!!

I've heard of lots of problems with the alphashox coming off. I would switch over to the Sims split limbsavers. They will be alot more reliable when it comes to staying on your bow.

Not necessarily. I've had those rip at the base and fall off quite often. I had one set of bad AlphaShox, took them back to the shop and installed new ones. No more problems. That bow is history, enter my new one I got in February. It came w/ them as well, and I can't tell you how many thousands, and thousands of shots I've made and they have NEVER been an issue.

Oh, depending on how close to the limb tips they are, that could cause a problem. Slide them down the limb about 3" away from the axle, and you should be ok.

thanx guys. ill pick up a new set here soon. ill let this set totally fall apart. a couple days should do it lol. does it matter camo or black maybe? mine are black.....maybe the camo is paint or something that would make it more durable?? i dont know. mobowhuntr...that looks to be where they are now. maybe even closer..ill check and adjust them if needed. the troublesome one is on my bottom limb.

I've worn out to sets. They do there job and are very good at it. I cut one of the old ones in halfand superglued it to a solid limb bow. Works great! I'vealso put a spot of it on the shock to keep it put on mymain bow.

If it's the bottom one and not in too bad a condition just flip them. It's the bottom on your rig that's theworkerand I believe you won't even notice a difference if you took the top one and the leech off the top. Changing things, like turning the limb bolts differently, could change that though.

You could try taking half a turn off the bottom bolt and see how that works.

Wow.... Hey Mauser, I don't have a problem with my Alpha Shox on my Highlander. The bow shop moved them a little bit back towards the cams, that's all. They don't move, don't come out, don't shift around, or anything... You might want to try to shimmy yours back a bit towards the cams and see if that helps them. The only other thing I could think of, is maybe prying out the black ones and picking up the Hoyt camo version Alpha Shox. They might be made a little better, I don't know...
