Default How Hunt-Crazy Are you...

I want to hear about things that people do as hunters while hunting, scouting, or otherwise that Non-Hunters would think is just Insane...

Such as... While I am walking through the woods in the summer time, I willwalk with a stick in my hand that I use to push limbs, andbranches out of the way so I won't have to touch them withmy clothes or hands... Then I will be SURE to throw the stick intothe creek or take it out of the woods with me...

So let's hear them... I know there are some crazy one's, and I might learn something....

I will ACTUALLY get up WAY before first light and put on clothes that help me blend into my surroundings when I'm in the woods. Then.....(and here's the unbeleivable part).....I'll get a LOT of stuff togther and take it with me to the woods. When I ge to a likely "spot"......I'll climb a tree......and stand up in that tree and wait for a certain animal.....no....a PARTICULAR certain animal to come by.....and decide, then, if I might take a shot at it, or not.

Seriously....

I've likey spent doble digit thousands of dollars on my pursuit of a game animal that's meat I could get for free from MANY. You wanna talk about REAL "crazy".....???????

Jeff

My friends think I'm a nut.

I take all my vacations (4 weeks) P days (3) sick days (15) and swap a lot of shifts so I get every day of the season off. I'm talking Bow, gun and muzzle loader. I have worked 23 straigth days now with many double shifts just so people will pay me back during hunting season. I have almost crawled into work sick so as not to use a sick day. Right now I still need 3 days during the bow season and 8 for muzzle loader. The rest I'm off. But there is still plenty of time left before the season. Hi I'm Mike and I'm a deeraholic. How many more are out there with this desiese

I live in Southern Illinois and needless to say it gets a little warm and humid here in the summer. I still get out and scout/video as much as I can before and after work. My buddy summed it up best last year when we were hanging stands and clearing lanes in 100 degree weather. He looked at me with sweat just pouring off of his face and said "Only you could take what is supposed to be a fun, relaxing hobby, and turn it into a second job."

I told my wife once that if she didn't like my hunting addiction, she knew where the door was.....

Two separations, and countless nights on the couch later... we're going on our first hunting trip together this november. She's decided if you can't beat it, join it so to speak! She even said she'd hunt and try to kill a deer too.

For scouting i ride my bike in the 4 miles. change into scent lok clothing. hike the 1/2 mile to do scouting wear gloves and rubber boots. hung my tree stands this year in 106 degree weather at 1000 am as not to spook the deer here in CA. hike back out to the bikes then change clothes and ride back to the truck. good way to loose 15 pounds from swet!!
