ETHICAL HUNTING
I'm new to this message board and was reading some of the posts. A person was complaining about poachers in his area. Well take it from a convicted felon. If you don't turn them in you are as guilty of the crime as they are. I was convicted of armed robbery in 1985 simply because my roomate did it and I knew about it and did not turn him in. I was an accessory to the crime. Because of that I can no longer hunt with rifles, shotguns, or blackpowder. I have also lost the prevlige to vote. Along with other sanctions. Now all I have is bowhunting and if we as a group don't police ourselves, we may not have that. I own a farm in Iowa and let me tell you, if someone were to come up here and poach, they would be very sorry. The landowners around here take their deer herds well being very seriously. And because of that, we have some of the best deer hunting in the country. Do yourselves a favor. Turn them in. Your deer will be better off for it.

Powerful message, Budbowhunter!! That took a lot of courage to write and I applaud you for it. I "understand where you're coming from", as I was in the Coast Guard years ago and remember a roommate having a tiny aluminum foil wad of cocaine. Yeah, I know.... It was like, "HELLO!! We're in the Coast Guard here and we do coke?!?!" I freaked out about it and asked my boss (Chief Warrant Officer) confidentially, what to do about it. I ended up narc'ing on the roommate after I learned that since I was also in the barracks and knew about the coke, I could get busted too! Everyone could get busted! <img src=icon_smile_shock.gif border=0 align=middle> The military doesn't play around with stuff like that!

Bud, I hear you. I almost got thrown in the Federal Penitentiary in college because I passed a counterfeit bill that I didn't even know was fake. I had the secret service looking for me and everything. I got a lot of flak on another post when I asked a question about another hunter's buck because I wanted to make sure everything was on the level. I got accused of being jealous, lying, and made some people very upset and I didn't even make any accusations. I agree we have to police our own ranks at all costs. If someone questions me and my actions I will explain myself because I have nothing to hide or get upset about. It might make some people mad, but it's got to be done.

Budhunter,
First welcome to the board. That was ballsy to say the least. I agree with you 100%.
