Default Camera questions for filming hunts

Hi I own a canon zr 80 digital camcorder and was wondering if anyone else has my problem; when i turn on the camera it makes a loud noise when activating the tape which is mini DV if it matters. how can i fix it ive tried muffling it with a t shirt and it works but im afraid that i would forget and spook the deer. also do i just need to cover up the real shiny stuff (chrome looking plastic) or do i need to cover the whole camera

Also if i can make it work im going to buy the pine ridge arm so i can film myself.

Ite,
I have a Canon ZR500 in mind dv and yes it will make some noise when powering up. I have not used it while hunting yet but I do use it to video deer in the woods during the off season. When I have topower it up i just cover it with my jacket bottom. then I take it back out.
Also when i am filming I don't use the LCD screen, i use the viewfinder. It has a slim profile that way when pointing it at a deer and I usually just hold it with my thin camo gloves. T
I've filmed lots of deer and have never had one spook from the camera.

I cover my camera/camera arm w/ strips of burlap or some other cammo material. I do that if i can remember, but usually i dont do anything to it, and Ive never had them see the camera... besides if they do its usually to late by then.
