VERY few fawns......

VERY few fawns......
I'm concerned by the lack of does w/ fawns I'm seeing in my game cams. I've seen ONE doe that had 2 fawns......and no others (out of probably 10 or so does that frequent my mineral lick).
How concerned should I be about this? Is it possible the fawns are staying bedded down while mama feeds?
I'd like your opinions.

In our area, we've also been concerned about the lack of fawn sightings. Seeing lots of mama deer, but very very few spots.
Wondering if there was a lot of late breeding with the screwy weather we had last November.

I did a lot of glassing the fields this weekend in Bradford County, PA. While I have only gotten a few fawn pics on camera, I have seen a TON of fawns in the fields during late afternoon/evening time frame.

RE: VERY few fawns......
Its not untypical to not see many fawns this time of the year. Come mid august you should start seeing more. Heres something that I discovered last year while sitting in my blind late July-mid August. Late July showed very few fawns, yet I was seeing alot of bucks and does. As the weeks went on, I began seeing more does comming out of the woods, following right behind were the fawns. Some of you might remember some of the photos I posted last year. In one sitting there were around 12 bucks and around 30 does, many of which had twins and tripplets.I have yet to see any fawns on any of my cameras and in the fields. Give them acouple weeks yet, they will show up. I alsobelive that the strange weather patterns play an important role as well. As many of you know, many parts of theUShas been in ongoing droughtcondtions. Shortages of water supplies are causing the deer to move where the water is more abundant. I own 300 acres ofland in central WI along the Black River and its pretty uncommon not to see deer out in my fields year round. Ive only seen a few. This grabbed my attention soI decided to begin scouting, I found very few tracks on any of our access roads south of the river, so I went north towards the river and along one of our access roads that runs right along the river. Its pounded like its never been pounded before. Being that the river is normally 10 feetor deeper during normal weatherconditions it was easier for the deer to get water but harder to cross, now the river is only about 2-4 feet deep in most spots. Its the opposite, its harder for the deer to get water do the steepness of the banks, but its much easier for them to cross. These types of weather patters and low water in the river have effected our bow and gun seasons dramitically in previous years and uless we get more rain, it will be hard for anyone in our group to bag a buck or any deer for that matter. Lastnight many parts of the US were hit by sever storms and terrential downpours and they are calling for more today, and the rest of the week. The bad news is they are calling for steady temps in the 90's. But hopefully with this new rain development, it will bounce the river back up, and turn things around a bit. I wish all of you the best of luck this year and please be safe. Remember to always wear your saftety harness when hunting from any stands. Get out there and start scouting if you have not already, post pics!
