That's typically how injuries are. Usually the side opposite of the injury will have non-typical or weird antler growth.

I respect you a lot for going after an injured buck. There are probably other big bucks there too so good luck this hunting season with whatever happens

I have seen that alot as well. Like when a deer gets hit by a car, the opposite side rack will grow odd.

He seems to be getting around well for having half a leg missing. I'm not sure if I would take him out or not. I'm sure if he walked under my stand though the decision would become easier.

I don't see why you would target this deer this season. He survived the winter, and looks quite healthy to me.

LT,
do you think you could chase him down if you had to??

I like the fact that he has survived and looks healthy and think the decision to shoot or not is totally up to you. Make sure if you do kill him that there is no current infection or other problem with that leg before you eat him. It's probably calloused over and fine though. good story.

Well, in answer to some of your questions, again, yes I will harvest the deer if I have the chance. Not that I really want to, but I really don't think he could be a good breeder for the does in my area and I wonder how long he will last before a predator gets him. What do you guys think? I personally would not feel any regret for taking him. He has a nice character about him. Too bad some kid made a bad shot on him. I really believe thats what happened about 2 seasons ago. I have some "crackshot" neighbor kids who will shoot no matter what kind of shot is presented. Anyway, to answer the question if I could catch him, You tell me. Do you think you could catch him? HA HA Doubt It.
