Default Bug Spray?

Doanimals pick up on the smell of mosquito spray? If so, are they wary of it (do they associate it with humans)? Usually by fall the bugs are mostly gone, anyway. I was thinking in terms of spring bear / turkey and scouting in the summer. Is it better do use spray and risk becoming more dectectable to game, or to not use it and get eaten alive?
