My Bad luck finally wore off, I got one.
The past few days that I've been hunting I've been seeing at least 2-3 nice P&Y class bucks and even getting within range a couple times. But I never could get a shot off. Since I didn't have time to put up any new stands this year, i hunted mostly from the ground, which was tough to get a shot at a nice buck without him seeing me.
Today, I decided to hunt some different areas that I haven't had much time to hunt. My buddy and I went to the same place BClark arrowed his buck earlier this season, and he walk a small area of the timber to me. All the trails kinda funneled right to this one spot so I stood there. And a few minutes later a descent buck came running by me. By the time I pulled the bow back he was within fet of me. I didn't even get to look through my sights. He was so close I just pointed by instinct, and the arrow made a descent shot. It was just a little far back, but not too bad. He went about 150 yards and layed down. The buck wasn't as big as the ones I've been seeing earlier in the week, but with tomarrow being my last day of bowhunting before I went back to college, I had to take him. He was a 3X4 with a missing tine, 17" spread. Was my first deer taken with a bow from a drive...
Also my brother got one last night when we were hunting together also. It was also a 3X4, that was 3 1/2 years old. Not a big one but not too bad figuring is was only his 2nd time out, and didn't have time to come back and bowhunt anymore either.

Congratulations - pretty cool on a drive none the less.
Question for you - I've looked at your web page, just at what point did your bad luck officially begin? You want to talk about bad luck, Son you come hunt with me and I'll have you redifining how you define the word "bad luck".<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>
Anyway great job!

The deer are really moving. I've seen more P&Y or bigger bucks this year, than I ever have. Didn't seen any in the B&C class though, which suprised me. They're moving at all times of the day. I went out in the afternoon around 2 and immediately see action, or have deer out in the feild. A few a fighting, but they're really checking the scrape and rub lines. I got a few pics back from my game cam today. I couldn't seem to get many buck pics so I put it in an open waterway hat had many runs and scrapes in it. Ended up getting pics of 4 different bucks in 2 days, and everyone had his nose down in the same scrape it was placed over. There was a lot of deer action at 5am right before it was getting light.
Ansel, yeah I was having good luck at seeing the bucks but the last four nights in a row, I had nice bucks between 120-150 class come right into me, but right before I'd get to pull back, the buck would either see or smell me or something, since I was on the ground, and wasn't able to put treestands up. Was a little frustrating, seeing a lot of nice deer having them within bowrange and no shot. But there are always landowner tags, which I beleive are either sex so in a couple weeks hopefully I can get another crack at them, or at least at rifle season!
