rybo, sounds to me like in all the excitement you were long-stepping to get to that deer. maybe you were running and didn't realize it LOL.

Estimating distance from a treestand is harder than estimating distance from the ground at least for me.

Actually I was shooting a pendulum at the time. I knew it was good to 30 yds.In my head I thought the deer was about 27-28 yds so I just aimed where I wanted and shot. I hit where I aimed, but thought I saw the arrow and the deer dropping together as it got out there. Things happen fast I just thought I was seeing the fletches sticking out after the hit as the deer dropped to run. Now knowing it was a little farther, I think I did see the deer dropping a little and drop into my arrow. I guess the adreniline stepping things off after the shot was a little more than I expected.
