And you know he's going to roll over laughing like a hyenawhen you shoot the biggest deer of your life with it. Then he's going to stand by and watch you have to drag it out all by yourself, smirking the entire time. Enjoy your new/old priceless bow.

RE: Inherited my late best friends bow....
Great post. I have actually planned ahead and listed all my firearms out in my will and who gets them. I never thought about my archery gear though. I would probably hunt with it a little but mostly baby it and make sure it lasts a long time ( and Gibblets strings will surely improve the performance, John is a class act I must say ). The only thing I have from my father is his .22 winchester and it only see's sunny days and no abuse whatso ever.

As some of you will recall, the first part of March my best fishing buddy and I were looking for a stringer of crappie when he passed away of a sudden heart attack. Anyway, I was curious as to how his wife was doing so I called her last night. We spoke for about an hour and she seems to be doing pretty well.
Anyway, during the course of conversation she was telling me about some of the things she's done and what she's done w/ most of his belongings. Out of the blue clear sky, she says "I just have NO idea what to do w/ his bow. Neither of the 2 boys want it and nobody else in the family bowhunts." Then she asks..."Hey, you wouldn't want it would you?"
Folks, I started bawling like a baby right there on the spot. Sentimentally speaking, this really means a lot to me. It's about a 2 or 3 year old Champion but I don't recall what model. We gave each other such a hard time about the bows each other shot. It was a constant source of entertainment for the both of us.
It needs new strings and cables which I will replace. I don't know whether or not I'll even shoot it, but part of me thinks it would be pretty cool to shoot a deer w/ it. At the same time, remembering some of the grief I gave him about shooting such a good bow that the company isn't even in business anymore.......I think that would make him laugh pretty hard, me killing a deer w/ his bow! Ha.....never!!! LOL....anyway, just thought I'd share. Really special to me.

Here's what I did with my Father-in-laws bow when he died last year. I made a little tribute to him. Includedis his picture and ribbons he'd won in archery competitions. Sorry about the reflections in the back.

I would say you definately have to kill a deer with it. My father has an old 870 that is the only thing I really want when he is gone. I cannot even count how many rabbits, pheasants and turkeys that gun has killed. I want to take him along on every trip with that gun.

Sorry to hear about your buddy. It is definitely hard to lose a hunting/fishing buddy. My dad lost his hunting buddy last year. It sure makes it hard to go back in the woods alone when normally your buddy is right beside you.
Good luck with bow.
