cover scent-bear hunting
I would appreciate any thoughts on this. In the past I haven't used any type of cover scent while bear hunting. I just hoped they would be drawn to the bait and ignore any human scent. I have been successfull in taking bears, but not any large ones. Possible the old boys are winding me before they come in and not showing up. Also, for obvious reasons, I do not want to use a cover scent that might attract the bears to me personally.

RE: cover scent-bear hunting
I've bear hunted 5 times and have always used a cover scent. The big boys a lot of the times know not to hit a bait till after dark when the hunter is gone. I have taken 2 bears over 300#'s by doing the 2 in 1 out method. Have your buddy go in with you and wait till you are set up and then have him leave and drive off. That is what the bear is used to hearing. The bear guide does this and the bear hears him drive off and knows it is safe.
