I would say that the average range has been between 14 to 17 yards and I have killed a few out to 30 yards. I could honestly say that I'd pass on a deer at 40 yards. Too many bad things can happen at that range.

Ive got my first deer this year at 15 but willing to shoot at 30 yds. I think that a 30 to a 5 is pretty good, if you feel it then take the shot cuz the strongest is usually your instinct. Go get em at 20 yds.

My three deer this year have been (roughly) 15, 25 and 30+. I practiced religiously this spring and summer and feel very confident in taking a shot out to 35 yards with clear lanes and broadside shot.
I prefer 15-20...but who doesn't....
