Congrats Ryan, I can't wait to see the pics and hear the story. What type of scent did you use? That would be 3 for you so far?....WOW!!! If you need any freezer space, let me know. I have plenty of room to store jerky meat or backstraps.<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle> I could post the pics for you if you want to email me them or stop by so I can scan them.

RE: I got a nice buck
ok guys, here's the story, I was in a bit of a hurry the 1st post.
I was set up on a bench that acted a bit like a funnel, and had some oak trees that were dropping plenty of food. I had a bunch of does around me for about a half hour when this guy came up through the woods. He looked like a shooter right away, but we need to have 4 pts to a side with the new regs in my area. As he worked his way up to me I still couldn't determine pts. He was now in range going thru small openings. I finally caught a good angle and saw browtines and was good to go. I drew back and he was standing behind some leaves. Of course time slows down and feels like he was behind them for minutes. Finally he steps out and comes over to my scent (Kirshner's silver top) and does a lip curl right as I release the arrow. (I had no idea he was lip curling as I was at full draw looking for a shot, but my Dad told me,as he was very near by in another tree and got to watch the whole thing unfold) Upon the shot the deer whirled and took off. He was visibly laboring nad I could see his far shoulder was useless. He ran, staggered, stopped for a moment. Then he turned and slowly run a little further where he laid down hard. Didn't realy fall. I could barely see bits of movment. At this point the spitting drizzle of rain turned into a complete downpour. We sneaked out and gave him some time. From the reaction of the deer we figured he was smoked good. We came back with lights 90 minutes later, and went to where we last saw the deer. Well he was there alright, but very much alive. We quickly retreated and waited till the next morning. That night I was a nervous wreck knowing there was no blood trail from the rain, but at least he didn't spook when we came upon him. Well 1st thing next morning we went right back and there he was dead right where we left him the night before.
