walmart sucks
First of season I bought a 6 of shock waves 100 gr. The local bow shop doesn't carry them so I went back tonight to get another 6. They only had 125 gr and so I asked the guy at the counter if they would be getting any more in and he said probably not. Now if I'd knew that I probably wouldn't have chosen that head. Really all I need is replacement blades. What do you all thank about Walmart?

They only get a certain ammount for the season. After the hunting season is over they have to fill the shelvs with stuff like water ski, boating etc. If they have a real surpluss on hand at the end of the season then they have to discount them even more. Just remember that hunting is seasonal and get more than what you might need when they first put the stuff out and you'll be ok.

RE: walmart sucks
Archery season opened here on Oct 1,02. I went to Wal-Mart and I got a pack of 4 blade muzzy 100 grains ( Realtree Camo Ferule) and liked them so much that I went back to Wal-Mart to get some more on Oct 15,02 and there was none on the shelf, so I asked the young man behind the sporting goods counter if they had anymore in back , and he replied no, I then asked if and when they would be getting any more and he replied" No I wont be getting anymore" when I asked him why not he replied " they only allow me to order hunting products up until a certain date and we have already passed that deadline date" I told him your have to be kidding right? We are only 2 weeks into the archery season with 3 months left to go!!!I would of gladly shelled out $40.00 on broadheads at Wal-Mart if they had them in stock or coming in soon,Jeeze what pencil pushing rocket scientist made that rule written in stone. I won over alot more customers in my franchise when I had it by being flexible and always remembering " No policy or rule is written in stone"accept the Ten Commandments, Guess Ill have to take the buisness elsewhere if Wal-Mart dosent want it.

RE: walmart sucks
Let me get this straight, Wallyworld carried the heads you wanted, but ran out. Your local ARCHERY shop didn't carry them at all. And Walmart is the one that sucks? Ok.
I guess neither one of you have shopped much at Walmart, especially for seasonal type items. Once it is sold out, it's gone. They aren't much different than any other chain type store. With Wallyworlds prices, they more than likely have "contracts" with companies that they will buy a certain item at a cheap price as long as they buy a certain # of those items. The # of those items they want to buy is based on how many(for the most part) they sold last year, and expect to sell this year. The reason you can buy them for several dollars cheaper at wallyworld than you can at your local archery shop is because of these contracts and large volume purchases. It is no different than their Xmas items. They sell Xmas trees also, but would you expect them to special order you a tree 3 weeks before Xmas? Once it is gone, it's gone. Like Sooner said, it is business. And being that they aren't a small personal business they don't cater to individual needs(thats what an archery shop is for) especially on items that they only sell for a month or two per year. I'm not defending wallyworld (although I should own stock as much money as I've spent in their hunting dept.), I am just trying to give you an idea why things are done that way. Don't get me wrong, I feel your pain (badcz and Ladyforge), i've had the same happen to me. But give me a break, it is Walmart! Not only do they have decent prices, but they are one of the only big chain stores that haven't folded to anti-gun/hunting pressure. If you need an item that bad, and that quickly, then overnight it from Cabelas or BassPro. Pretty simple.

Good point!
I don't expect Walmart to have what I need in regards to my hunting/archery supplies. It's nice if I happen to cruise by there and they've got something I'd like to have or try, but otherwise I'm at the local sporting goods store or online/in a catalog.
Now if the store was named "Walmart Archery & Hunting Supplies", you might have a valid point there....
