Gumoflauge

RE: Gumoflauge
I've heard a lot of opinions in this thread, but so far I haven't heard any sort of real thoughts on why you think this product does or does not work.
Think about this guys - we're all worried about the scent that we emit from our body while hunting hence the use of scent killing/eliminating soaps, cover scents, odor eliminating sprays, activated carbon clothing etc. Why aren't we more concerned with our breath? Think about the amount of gas containing odor that is given off by your skin - to the naked touch/smell of a human you can't even tell most of the time unless you haven't showered in awhile and you reek like BO. On the other hand think about the amount of gas given off through your mouth/nose containing odors from not only the food we eat but the bacteria that grows in our mouths/noses. In my personal opinion you'd think there's a lot more odor coming out of your mouth/nose than what is coming off your skin at any given time - especially when your skin is covered up by clothing and you're breathing odor directly into the air at a pretty fast and consistant rate throughout your entire hunt.
There is a reason that the manufacturers of activated carbon clothing stress the use of facemasks - because 90% of the odor your body gives off comes from the neck up and most of it comes from your mouth. If by chewing a piece of gum I can help to eliminate or at least mask some of that odor why wouldn't I do it? Granted I don't think that any scent control/elimination product is going to magically make a 200" buck walk into your arrow but every little bit counts and every little bit helps.
Just my 2 cents.

Now I haven't tried eating room deodorizers but based on their smell I would say that the gumoflage tastes like those pine trees you hang from your rear view mirror!!! [:'(]
Odorless Arm&Hammer bakingsoda gum is available for much less money and it is edible!!!

Well ok my 2 cents.....If I fell for every little gimick that every hit the archery world I would have to buy a much larger truck than a Tahoe to haul all the crap around. Furthermore how many thousands of dollars would we have invested in this sport. If you are wondering, the answer is no I dont have the carbon suits and all the scent elimination crap I dont believe in it. Hunt the wind bottom line!

Justin I agree with everything you posted. One thing that I have been doing for the last two years is dehydrated parsley. You can get it at most grocery stores, near the spices.Alot of folks don't know it but your bad breath or any breath starts in your digestive tract(stomach and such).Parsley as well as "Gumoflauge"has high concentrations of chlorophil, which is known to eliminate or kill bacteria. Also a gum that has been sold for a long time is clorets.Green apple gum will just make your breath smell like artificial apple bad breath.Kinda like farting then spraying some air freshner in the room, the fart smell is still there[:-]Fresh parsley on the diner plate from a restraunt, is not just a garnish, it's for the breath too.Just put a pinch of dehydrated between the cheek and gum(like backy) it works.I believe the majority of human odor is from the neck up.

You can get chlorophyll in tablet form too , which is a lot higher concentration than you'll ever get in any gum , and it still won't hide you from one of the most sensitive noses in the animal kingdom . An animal that can smell the most minute traces of odor , and analyze six different ones at the same time , won't be fooled by any scent reduction regimen of any kind . The best that you can hope for is to reduce your odor signature to the point that the critter thinks you're farther away than you really are and therefore less of a threat when the wind shifts to his favor . All forms of scent reduction technology are temporary at best , and wasting hundreds of dollars on any of them is just plain silly .
