Default Kinetic Energy Loss

Can someone tell me how to figure KE loss?
Say a 373 gn arrow at 270fps= 56 ft # At what distance is that?
How much KE does that same arrow have at say 40 yards?
Is there a way to figure the loss?
Thx

Usually arrows are shot through a crono at about 3 feet.

How much KE does that same arrow have at say 40 yards?
The only way your going to get it exactly right is set up a crono at 40 yards and shoot through it then work out the KE.

The below numbers should be very close.

373 grain arrow at 270 fps should be 60 ft pds of KE

58 ft pds KE at 10 yards
55 ft pds KE at 20 yards
52 ft pds KE at 30 yards
50 ft pds KE at 40 yards
48 ft pds KE at 50 yards

There is a way to figure it out, but its a very long process. in order to figure out KE loss you have to think of the factors: wind, & gravity. Gravity has a force of 9.81 meters per second square wich is about 32 fps every second. Wind is a variing factor that is hard to get exact. Anyways If you want the equations for KE loss look in a physics book and get ready for some math
