Slam and a 1/2

RE: Slam and a 1/2
I have a Hoyt Ultramag with the Cam 1/2 system. It compares favorably to a lot of more expensive bows that I see at our indoor range. It's very quiet and easy to shoot well.

I got the Reflex Super Slam last spring and have loved it!
Very forgiving, fast, quiet, and deadly! (2 mulies, 1 calf elk)
My first split limb bow and am glad I made the right decision.
I get "cr*#" from the Mathews guys at the ramge, but I'm in the 10 next to them. For a lot less money!
But if you're shopping for a new bow, don't make the cam system the main criteria. Make a list of things you want in a bow.
Starting with price range. No sense in shopping for a Cadillac on a Geo budgit.
Draw length "range", draw weight "range", cam to cam length (finger shooter prefer longer bows, tree stand shooterslike the shorter bows for instance). Just to name a few. Search the web for opuinions and stats on both split limb and solid limb designs. I'm not endorsing any one store or web site, but huntersfriend.com has a lot of valuable articles that helped me choose.
Bottom line, narrow down your criteria and shoot as many as you can.
Then buy two or three different bows! (lol)

reflex does not equal hoyt, they are the same basic company but are some MINOR differences, first up the cams, cam-1/2 is adjustable in 1/2 inch increments, slam-1/2 adjusts in 1 inch increments, same basic draw feel and speed though.
Risers are different, one is cast one is forged.
Limbs on the reflex are not the same.
That all said, reflex is a GREAT bow!

I"ve got a Hoyt Razortek W\ the cam and a half and a AR w\ the
ram and a half. Love both bows, smooth and quiet. As Bob saidbe carefull with the draw adjustments.
As said before Reflex is close but not the same as Hoyt.

Bet yall didn't know that the Cam-1/2 and Slam-1/2 cam designs are actually licensed from Darton under the CPS cam system patents!
Do yourself a favor and shoot a Darton before you buy either a Hoyt or a Reflex. It's a smoother bow and costs less!
