Default help!!! what should i do????

ok here it is. I have a stand set up on my buddies grandma's property. It's my only stand on the property and won't get many chances to hunt out of a different stand. I was here last year and didn't see a thing. But, my buddies dad swears by the stand. That i should stay there because he has seen the biggest buck of his life hanging around there and every night the deer funnel into where i am. I haven't seen this for a fact but i trust him. Again i didn't see anything last year. Also, along the right side of my stand is a small trail and right next to that is a huge mother trail, we think it's that big daddy buck that he's talking about (my buddies dad, joe). Anyway, last year there weren't many signs of the trails being used except for prints on the trails that go around my stand. Now there are 2 huge rubs right next to eachother about 20 yards from my stand, and they're right on the "big buck" trail. With this sign, I like what I see. But, last year pops into my mind, you didn't see anything!!! What should I do??? What should I do, to get that buck or any other deer to come into my stand? Do you guys have any ideas? Anything will help. Thanks

It could be your not hunting the place at the right times. I got a buddy that has a place I can hunt on. There are two kinds of food on this place, persimmons and acorns. When the persimmons are dropping, the deer are all over the place for about two weeks. When the acorns are dropping these deer are in his woods for a few weeks. All other times, the deer are elsewhere. It could be there's a food source on grannies land and your not hitting it right. Also, your stand could be too close to the big bucks home turf or bedding area. You might be running him out when you come into the area. There's alot of if's in deer hunting, figuring them out is what makes it great.

paitence and persistance!!! why dont ya try jumping back on his trail a lil further in to the woods maybe hes staging before he reaches your stand. he could be watching you the whole time. waiting for you to leave. jump around dont over hunt the area watch the wind and try to trick him. he could have all of yall patterned. This makes me think of this buck that weve been hunting. he shows enuff sign but nobodys seen him and this has been going on for 4 years we did catch him on camera tho I wish I could post the pic but cant...hes awesome. they dont get big from being dumb

The purpose of a trail is to get the animals from one important area to another. Two things govern the use of the trail. Their security or ability to travel with the least possibility of vulnerability to predators. Traveling the path of least resistance or translated the "easiest way to get there." Of the two security is foremost.

When I see a trail I want to know "why is it here?" or "what do they use it to do?" Also, is this trail through woods (possibly a daytime trail) or in the open (more likely a nitetime trail).

Now let me ask a "stupid" question. Are you sure it is a deer trail? On my property are a couple of new "high use" trails. No vegetation is on them and they are rutted out constantly about 1 foot wide. I would be excited about that except for the neighbor who has a group of yearling steers who don't seem to be fencable this year. In other words it has been a moderately used cow trail. I checked them out after the last few rains. NO DEER TRACKS!!!

Some trails get used only at certain times of the year. Have you considered a trail timer or a trail cam for this trail? Also I think you have it a bit backwards. The smaller trail is more likely the buck trail and the bigger a doe group trail or bachelor herd trail. Are there any droppings on this trail? If so are there more than 75 pills or so to a pile? (usually about the smallest you find for a buck)

You may be on to something and they are moving at nite. You may be on to something and they know you are there. (In this case consider a ground blind.) If you cannot establish regular tracks, then it may be even an armadillo, hog or other trail.

Hope this helps!

Hey, size may not matter but it sure IS nice!
