I went out last night to some new property that I got permission to hunt here in IL. As my buddy and I walked out to survey the area and set a night stand we saw a HUGE buck across the field. He set up at one and I begun the stalk.
I was able to get within 50 yards of him, but he had moved too far into the field. As it turns out there were four bucks together.
They made their way across the field to my buddy. They got so close to him that he could not wait for the monster and shot the mid size buck. An 8 point with a 16" spread. The big buck just trotted off- not even spooked.
He was a 12 point and had to go at least 23" spread.
We will be back to get him.
Man what a hunt!!!

thats always exciting to walk on to some new land and see 4 bucks...good luck this year hope you get one of them!!

That's teamwok, now it's time for the bud to help you out. Hope you're able to get a shot at one of those bucks with a bow, but if not, there's nothing wrong with taking a buck like that one with a rifle. Let us know if you get him and I'm waiting for a pic.

I forgot to mention i watched my pal shoot the buck. That was almost as good as doing it myself. I will try to get pics.

Hope he doesnt shoot it with a rifle. They cant be used here to hunt deer thats one of the reasons we have a decent herd.

Congrats on the harvest, and new hunting spot.
