The only reason I mentioned a slug gun is because I think it depends on the ammo you are using and the distance. I still wouldn't do it myself.
I don't know that I would call someone stupid just because they do something you will not though.
I honestly don't know why you would shoot an animal in the neck with any weapon, especially if you were thinking of mounting it. I'm not other people though.
