RE: Thought provocative......Good hunter????
unwilling to read ALL of the posts on this thread i will state my opinion on the matter.
I do agree with a lot of what has been said here.
I believe a good hunter is a hunter who strives harder and harder every year to become yet a better hunter, and is as ethical and humane as possible. i know that sometimes a hunter does make a bad shot, and it happens, but they have to be willing to try and try and try some more to recover that deer, whether it a monster buck, a doe or a 4 point. To me u dont HAVE to let little bucks go. to each there own. I myself am in the stage that i want to shoot only mature bucks. i am though somewhat of an oppurtunist as well. Here in my part of Wisconsin (btw the midwest aint EASY to hunt) we have way too many does. so i try and fill my doe tags and sometimes, like this year buy extra doe tags, just because they are way too overpopulated. that gets to be a lot of meat and i keep my fair share, but donate what i wont use.
Anyways a good hunter knows how deer move, what they act like, why they do things, wants to understand more of other things he doesnt know about them. They dont have to put in days and days of scouting, but only as much as they can. some ppl have more time than others. A good hunter must be fully confident in his shooting ability.
ok see what you think
