Are you still alive? Its plausible and I do not doubt it happened to you. Amazing how smooth calm actions effect the animal. Glad you had the experience. Judging form the posts, you are not the only one who had to clean the dukey out of his pants!
Hey, size may not matter but it IS nice.

Two years ago,I was walking towards my stand and I see a buck coming thru the woods heading my way.I stop on the trail to watch and this deer keeps walking in towards me.He finally stops about 5 ft in front of me and lowers his head and drops his ears back.I had an arrow nocked and I got my bow in front of me cause I thought he was going to charge me when he turns and walks a few feet by an oak tree.I shot him at 10ft.

the same exact thing happened to me last year, it was a young spike and had slobber running out of its mouth and didnt even care i was there, my buddy reached for his camera but when he took the pic it actually was about 10yds away already but at one point it was 1 foot and it didnt even care i was there it had its head to the ground and was tracking a doe. when we told our other hunting friends about it they said yea right, i really dont think they believed us but it was true and probably wont ever happen again....but it was really cool.
Im 42 and never had anything like that happen to me and probably never will.....
Hunting with a bow brings about a different challenge on every hunt!!!

titleist, I would be very weiry of any unexplained lightening bolts.
Seriously though, the deer must have been pen raised or fed by humans. I refuse to believe a totally wild deer would let a human pet it. Then again, stanger things have happened.

I have never got that close to pet one but I waer a perfect hoof print scar on my back from getting run over by 6 deer, I was just below a hill when i heard a gun shot and the sound of deer running but couldn't detect from where because of the hill it just echoed the next thing I knew I was rolling down the hill with a doe as I was going down the hill i could see them jumping over me and had 3 step or jump on me,ended up with a dislocated shoulder and a gash on my back that required 36 stitches only thing that was ok was the doe broke her neck on the fall so at least I got a deer because I didn't get to finish the hunting season, was even in the paper but they had fun with it because they put the title HUNTER GOT RUN OVER BY A RAINDEER?

I've heard crazier stories , but I'll say one thing , you must have some big kahunas bro<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle> Consider yourself lucky you dont have two holes in your chest from those spikes. Even a pen raised buck is unpredictable.
