need some pointers
im getting started into bow and this is my first kind of hunting on any kind.
i have no one to help me accept for you guys.
i live in southwest mo and im looking for a bow to buy looking at pse and want to go deer and turkey hunting. my one question is i dont have a stand. what do you do? also i cant find a map of where you can go hunting. i have alot of land behind my house but i dont know if its owned by someone. their is no signs, paintmark. or anything so i think it will be alright for bow. if i can get any help from this it will help me out a lot. thanks.

RE: need some pointers
Even if it isn't marked it is still owned by someone no doubt. I would check around with neighbors around someone should know who's land it is. As for the stand it kind of depends on the land you get to hunt. I like hunting out of ladder stands. We have alot of crooked trees here so climbing stands are useless. And hanging stands are especially hard to put up by yourself (sounds like your in that position). So I would suggest a ladder stand. Whatever you do don't go on that land without permission good way to get in trouble.

well thats what i was afraid of. there is no neighbors around the land for about 20 miles. im thinking its state because they are building houses on part of it. where im buying my bow im going to try to see if he'll let me hunt on his land. the worst he'll say is no. but the only reason i wanted to hunt behind me is because i always see deer there.

Click on "atlas" on the left margin, and from there you can find all of the land owned by the conservation department in your county and any county in the state. I use this atlas a lot, and from there I go to www.mytopo.com and look at an arial photo and topo of the land.
One of the hardest parts of bowhunting is securing land to hunt, but it can be done. Talk about hunting with friends and family, and let it be known you are looking for places to hunt. You'll be surprised at who may speak up.
