How long to wait when hanging new stand?

RE: How long to wait when hanging new stand?
I would not worry about it too much. I have taken many deer after hanging the stand the night before, or even that morning.
Most recently, I was redecking my permanent stand, running the chainsaw and hammering away for close to an hour. Mid swing of the hammer, I hear a twig break behind me. I turn around and there stands a rather confused and concerned 6 point. I blinked, finished the nail and stood up. It took him close to another thirty seconds to book it on out of there. Now, I may have screwed myself for the coming weeks, but it proves a point that deer, if accustomed to human activity in the woods, can really become, ummmm, careless when dealing with new things in the woods.
If there is human activity around (ie farms, constuction, or logging) I would not worry about it all that much. If you are hunting a pristine location with little human activity, plan properly, eliminate scent and keep that noise to a minimum. If you are hunting a bedding area, hang the stand at night, since the deer are (most likely) feeding. Vice versa for a feeding area. These are not steadfast rules, but have led to me killing many a buck.

I hung the stand and ladder, yesterday. I've been hunting that location from my climber....but it's a LONG hike to get in there, and I don't like being sweaty first thing....then freezing my nads off......so I hung a lock-on (BTW...bought a Summit Copperhead for $89, yesterday). I left 50 lbs of peanut/corn mix and a 5 gal bucket of apples on my way out as a peace offering to any deer I may have disturbed....lol.
Happy hunting....and thanks for the replies. We'll hunt this location, Saturday.

I would wait for the wind to be right before hanging it. Do it during the middle of the day and be as scent free as possible. Don't overdress and wear gloves. If I'm moving a stand I like to wait untill just before a good rain or the wind will be in the right direction for a day or so. If everything is in your favor you could hunt it the same day.

Like I said....I hung it yesterday.....knowing that the wind was gonna kick up and it was going to rain, today (edge of a front).
I think I timed it, perfectly. It should ne good-to-go, Saturday.

Hang'm in the morning and hunt'm in the afternoon.
I will spray my stands with a scent eliminator spray after I hang them up...can't hurt.
I have shot good buck from newly erected stands...I fell its becasue you tend to be more careful in a new area so the deer don't see /smell you.
