Anyone else addicted?

RE: Anyone else addicted?
ADDICTED?????? I have hunted for over 35 years and this is only my 3rd full bow season, I have yet to get my first bow kill, this has become almost an obsession, unless it is pouring cats and dogs this afternoon I will be out in the rain waiting to stick the 8 pointer who zigged when I wanted him to zag yesterday!!
Thank the Lord my wife loves me and kind of understands my obsession.

RE: Anyone else addicted?
I go to sleep at night visualizing my next hunt.
Everything from which direction the deer will be comming in from to where it drops after I arrow it.
Sometimes I get a shot - sometimes the deer never makes it into a shooting lane or I get busted. Either way, I'm hunting...<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>
The wife has asked why I'm smiling as I'm laying there with my eyes closed...when told of my visualzation efforts...well let's say that she's less than thrilled. "Don't you get enough of hunting?"
"It's not the kill, it's the adventure and challenge! <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>"

RE: Anyone else addicted?
"Hello...my name is Springgobbler...and I'm a bowhunting addict..."
(all of the board in unison)
"Hi Springgobbler"
As we say here in WV...I'm 'eat up with it'. The only reason I'm not out today is because I am fortunate enough to have no more room in my freezer.
I am also fortunate because my girl (we are getting married in Dec....afternoon so I can hunt the morning) supports and encourages my addiction, not to mention she is getting the hunting bug herself.
She did laugh the other day when I didn't go hunting because I was sick and I told her that I felt guilty for not going.....LOL.
Gotta Love It!

RE: Anyone else addicted?
I agree. First year bowhunter. I have hunted many times with a gun but never became addicted to hunting like I am now. I really struggle with the low's. i.e. not seeing any deer, but what a high when you have a deer one yard away from you next to your ground blind. Going totally undetected for me is almost as exciting as killing a buck.
I also struggle with thinking about anything except the deer I have been seeing and constantly getting a perfect set-up. If it wasn't for the wife. or boss I would be in the woods close to every day.

The thing that I love about bowhunting is how it can completely get you up for the months preceding the season, then it can take you to incredible lows if you don't see anything for a long period of time, then it can completely turn around to be the best season in 10 seconds. Then we look forward to it all over again and again and again!

RE: Anyone else addicted?
This is my first bowhunting season. After gun hunting for 12 years, I wish I would have started years ago! It keeps me awake at night. The other night, my wife says" what's the matter, can't you sleep?" And I say" no-I'm trying to think where I'm going to set my climber next." She just shakes her head.
