OK huntress that is just wrong. How could anyone enjoy the smell of something like that. But hey whatever trips yer trigger is alrighty with me. I got sprayed once and the only thing that took it off me was tomato juice. I still get sickl to my stomach when I catch a whiff of one.

I had a CLOSE call with a skunk early in october coming out of the woods after dark. Heard something making a hissing type of noise from in the woods...i just figured it was a pissed off racoon or something..shined my light into the woods to see a skunk 10 feet from me pondering his attack...needless to say I took off like a bat out of hell running down the bean field like a little girl doing the high step....i got done running 40 yards later and laughed until i got back tot he truck.....i sure as hell wouldnt have been laughing had i been sprayed.

A long time ago, I got sprayed by a skunk while coon hunting. The smell is unbearable, and it literally burns in your nostrils...huntress might change her point of view if she was close to one.
Field&Stream had an article one time in their "Tips from the Field" and it said to start a fire and throw a bunch of wet leaves on it so it smokes real heavy. That will remove the skunk smell in no time; had to do it with one of our dogs.

RE: FREE AND POWERFUL COVER SCENT
Well, about three weeks ago I caught a big female skunk in a body-grip trap set in front of a ground hog hole near my garden (trying to protect my fall spinach and chard - caught 29 groundhogs this year!). I was happy that it was a good catch, the skunk was caught behind the head and didn't spray. So I put on my chemical-handling gloves, took her out ofthe trap cleanly, and tossed her into the nearby woods ...duhhh... about two days later, the glands opened up, and now I can still smell her up bymy house whenever there is an unfavorable wind - Iam burying the next one...argggggg!
- When I used to quail hunt farmsin the foothills of VA, an old codger cautioned me not to shoot the skunks onhis farm, especially the ones that lived under his old shack of a house! He claimed it kept the ague (flu) away. We'd never visited too long, the smell in his house was nauseating.
