Climbers in pine trees.
Does anyone hunt a climber in a pine tree? I have not tried it, always figured it would make too much noise. I am going to move my stand and the best tree is a big piney that is on the side of a ridge in a funnel. Just wondering what your thoughts and experiences were?

i think it would be easier to hang a hang-on stand in a pine....depending how thick it is.....cut a few branches so you can use them as steps going up....also if you are hunting in pines, take a few of the branches home with you and store your clothes in a container with them. good luck

it's not too loud once you get settled in (provided you strip some of the excess bark that you or your stand may rub against)....but going up and coming down is usually loud enough to alert most game in your entire state.

Depends on the type of pine. Some yellow pines have thick bark and white pines have smooth bark. Check your stands instructions, some tell you not to use on a pine tree. That being said I've used an old summit (it was new back then) on pine trees before. Yeah it's crunchy going up and down and if you screw anything in it will get covered in sap but like someone else said, rub off the extra bark and it should do fine.
