that thing is light (17lbs, i believe, but mine is three years old now. I think the newer one is a little better and 18 or 19 pounds) and i set it up in the dark no problem. you really have to make a mistake to make any noise with it when setting it up. It has the bow holder built into it (buy the rubber grommet and padded straps).
I stillhunt with this unit on my back!

The weight limit on treestands, is put on there for insurence reasons. Most climbers that are rates for 250 can probablet hold 400-500 pounds. Any summit is nice. The new gorilla with the black mesh seating is a nice one too!

You probably have one of the old ones made of steel. They make them from aluminum now and the average is about 18-19 lbs now depending on which one you get.

I'm 6'7" and weigh 290 lbs. I own both the Summit Goliath and Equalizer. Both are great stands. The Goliath is a bit more roomy but that equalizer is solid as a rock once you set the straps.
