My biggest buck with a bow!!!!!!!!
Well i am a new member to this site, but i couldn't help but share with all of you my biggest buck with a bow to date!
On the evening of Oct. 30th I decided to hunt a scrape line that had been freshly worked after the early morning rains. I had killed a nice buck out of this woodlot the year before with my rifle. I setup downwind of the scrape line with a lot of territorial buck urine and a dab of doe estrus to aid in drawing in a big buck. At about 4:15 i heard limbs snaping behind me. As i turned to look i could see his antlers. I knew he wasn't the new state record or anything, but he was decent enough. He circled and caught the scent i laid out. He stopped and surveyed the area at 22 yards for about 10 minutes, giving me enough time to decide that if he gave me a good shot opportunity i would take it. He took a couple of more steps into an open shooting lane and slightly quartered away from me. I put the range finder on him and it read 18 yards. I pulled the Hoyt Vipertec back to full draw and settled in right behind the front shoulder. I released and the Grim Reaper found its mark. The buck bolted, almost like he was not hit. He ran and stopped about 50 yards away. Then, he stumbled and made a last ditch effort to escape his doom, no such luck though. He expired about 80 yards from my stand. And at 4:30 I watched my trophy fall. The memory of the hunt will definately be at the top of my list, as he was my first "trophy" (every deer is a trophy) buck. He has 11 points with two kickers at the base. I dont know the score and I am not too worried about it, it wouldn't make any difference if he scored 100 inches or 200!
Just thought I would share my hunting experience with you all!!
