Default 5 bucks feeding together on October 29th?

Hey guys, I am new to the forum. Well here in Northern Virginia today, I was walking into to set up and about 100 yards from where I was gonna set up, I spotted 5 bucks feeding together on a flat area on a hill. 2 spikes, 2- 4 pointers, and one 6-8 pointer. It was crazy. I got within 40 yards of them, watched them for 10 minutes or so, only one looked like a shooter......after about 10 minutes, one of the spikes got down wind of me and they were off. For all the years I have hunted in this area, I have never seen 5 bucks feeding together this late in October..it is supposed to be the pre-rut! Anyways, I have also noted that the aggressive rubs on the trees aren't there as well...maybe the pre-rut is a little late? What do you all think?

Tonight I watchedtwo 130-140 class bucks feeding together but they wouldnt come to rattling, grunting or doe bleats. They looked several times, but wernt interested. I saw a doe running accross the field from 300 yards away and low and behold the bucks took off after her not even getting 1 wiff of her lol, was funny. They chased her a bit then went back to eating after realizing she wasnt in season yet. The night before I saw more than 5 bucks feeding together, spikes all the way up to an 8 pt as well although none of these were big enough to take. The night before that, I saw one of the biggest bucks to date chasing a doe for an hour, never came close enough to shoot but man was he a stud.

Its just the place I hunt gets a decent amount of pressure and generally you won't see more than 1 buck by itself, let alone 5 all together this late in October. It just seemed weird, but the flat was full of oaks, and the acorns were everywhere.
