Treestand makes a creaking noise now!
A few days ago while hunting i noticed a new creaking noise when i go from the sitting position to standing. Its a Summit viper xls. The noise seems to be coming from the area in which you insert the cable into the treestand. Anybody have any idea how to remedy this? The noise isnt bad when its windy out but when its dead calm, the noise is quiet loud. Thanks alot.

The only thing that I can think of, is that the metal cable is rubbing on the latch. I had a buddy whose stand did this when the heat shrink wore off that particular know on the strap. You may look at that, I've not yet had a problem with mine.

I was just thinking about this tonight in my stand. I have a summit razor x5 and it does the same noise you are talking about. I figured out how to remedy it. Get back in the climbing position and move the bottom part of the stand a little higher/lower than where you have it when it makes the noise. Shake it a little to get it to "bite" good. It may take a few times but its worth moving it then instead of hearing that creaking when a deer is under you.
