ORIGINAL: jhalfhill

my bow has more kinetic energy than your muzzleloader so i dont want to hear it.
jhalfhill,
Is that correct? How much KE does your bow have and how much can you get from a muzzleloader?

Ihave to partlydisagree with davidmil on this one. If you shoot a deer looking directly at you in the middle of the chest, you're hitting something. Unless you're lucky and hit the heart, you'll most likely catchthe guts. Those types of wounds typically end in a deer that gets very sick and dies very slowly. Not good.

Either way you look at it, this was a very poor shot and should be an example of something you should never do.

Looking at diagrams of the deer anatomy it looks like a low% shot for a quick kill. You could hit some major arteries and get lucky but looks low%.

However with a gun the same shot looks better assuming the caliber used is strong enough to go through the bones in the chest area to get to the vitals. Still not the best shot though

Maybe he meant if you threw the muzzleloader at it.
