stand location??
I'm having a heck of time trying to decide where to set up my stands!! I am a 30 year old rookie to bowhunting looking for a little advice. I stumbled upon a gasline right of way that's cut through the fields, hardwoods, corn fields, etc.... along this 15 yard wide right of way are scrapes and rubs galore!! My question is....should I set up just off the edge of the pipeline or a certain distance away from the scrapes?? The section of this rigth of way that has the most action has hardwoods along both sides, about 50 yards from a corn field on one end, and about 200 yards from a swail lot on the other end. Any other advice on things to look for when locating stands would be appreciated. Thanks

RE: stand location??
Sounds like you got a hot spot. I like to look for the bedding and feeding area when tring to decide where to put the stand. Obvious somewhere in between is where to be. You have prob. found a area in or close to the feeding area from the discription. You would know better than me though. If there are any trails in the area find where a number of them come together (don't over look those trails coming out of thick brush that have only a little use as these are likely the buck) Over looking the scraps and rubs can be a good spot although alot of times these are made at night an may not be visited during the day until rut is on. So we are back to food and sleep find them and set up between, if you find that deer are not arriving until at or after dark you will have to move closer to bedding area to intercept them if they are right on time shot away. Good Luck hope this helps.
