Time to get busy!

Time to get busy!
Well, I got a call from a friend today and he said that I still have a house. Out of the ten people I called I am the only one with a house. The only thing I lost was 30% of the shingles off of my roof.
Now that I have a house, stand, boots, and camo, I need to get ready for the season. If I hunt this yearI will be hunting in Illinios. I do not have a place to sight in my bow with broadheads, or a place to practice shooting out of a stand (which is why I dropped out of the contest. I will not sign up again because I am still not sure if I will hunt this year). Does anyone have any ideas on how I can get ready for this season? I just need a place to climb up a tree and practice.
Thanks

What kind of place are you staying at in Belleville? Is it a relatives house or apartment type deal? There is a Missouri Conservation area called Busch Wildlife Area in St. Louis county that has elevated platforms where you can shoot from. I'm not sure if you can shoot broadheads. I might even come out and shoot with you one weekend if you wanted.
Awesome to hear that your house was spared by the storm. You are definately luckier than most.

Glad to hear that your house is still standing. I know you said thatyou prolly wont sigh back up, but just to let you know...the door is always open to rejoin w/ us...I don't think anyone would hve a problem with it. Non-the-less...i am very happy to hear that your hose is still there.

Glad to hear your house is still standing, Zak. I wouldn't worry too much about practicing from a stand. It's a good thing to do when you can, but it isn't a necessity. Just make sure you're hitting where you want to on flat ground with broadheads and aim for where you want your arrow to exit. You'll be fine.

I will not go hunting unless I can practice with broadheads shooting from my stand. I just won't feel confident without practicing that shot. I do regret dropping out of the contest, but I do not know if I will be hunting this year. I may be able to hunt the last few weeks of the season, but that is not fair to the team. They need a member who can hunt the full season.

Good for you that you have your house, and I hope you figure out a way to practice.Have you thought about leaning a ladder against a roof? I used to live near downtown Atlanta, and that is what I did. Never had to worry about my neighbors--they thought I was crazy!
